My name is Terry Robbins and my daughter is creating this Go Fund Me page for my brother and his wife Michael and Karen Berman.
My 12 year old nephew, Greg, (middle brother in top picture) was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor 3 and half years ago. The proper terminology for it is -Anaplastic Ependymoma Grade 3, meaning as bad as it gets- and it is a VERY aggressive form. He had his first brain surgery when the tumor was discovered and most of it was removed. He then began chemo. When they did another MRI, 2 weeks later, the tumor had grown back rapidly, leaving him at an aggressive 3. They went in to do another surgery.
In the process, Greg quit breathing on his own, his bowels shut down, his throat muscles weren't responding and he lost function in the left side of his body. He began to drown in his own saliva. He was finally stabilized and began somewhat breathing on his own, the left side of his body had some function again, but the tumor continued to grow.
At this point years later after all the surgeries, they had permanently disabled him. He cannot walk, the left side of his body never started to work properly again, he can't speak because he cannot be without a trach, which forced him to learn sign language, and he needs 24 hour nursing care.
The medical bills from all of this are astronomical.
As of now, the chemotherapy is ineffective, and he's maxed out on his radiation. According to the Doctors, there is nothing more they can do for him.
A few weeks ago, another MRI was done and the tumor had grown by 50-100% in only 6 weeks time from the prior MRI. We don't have much time left with him.
So now we're asking for any donations so they can go out and do things as a family for the time he has left, medical bills, and the costs for when his battle is over.
