Please consider helping us to rebuild the church at Lapaz and the homes of the members. Currently families are under temporary tarp shelters or living the ruins of the church. I goal is be able to construct 6 houses, the parsonage and the church.

Thank you so much for your Help to send relief to 2 churches in southern Leyte.

"If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?"- James 2:15-16

Super-Typhoon "Yolanda" (Haiyan) made landfall in the Visaya Islands in the Philippines with waves over 10 feet high and winds at 195 mph. The infrastructure (water, power, communication, roads, port, bridges, airport) was destroyed and it is projected that it may take months before basic services are restored. Our mission here (Bible Expositors Seminary) is to train pastor and assist in church planting but we cannot turn a blind-eye to such suffering. Daily we see the reports of deprivation and even cases of starvation. So many of you have expressed a desire to help. That is why I have set up this page. With your help we will make a trip to the areas outside of the city of Tacloban (where aid is not being distributed). We currently have one of our pastors who is in the area and surveying the damage and the needs of the brethren. As soon as he has reported back to us we will purchase the items needed and plan our trip (over 12 hours by land & ferry in good conditions). The goal is to have the money in place so that we can leave as soon as possible. Any help you are able to extend to the poorest of the poor - people who now literally have nothing - would be most appreciated.

Who we are: Dr. Barry G. Carpenter

I live in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, where I train pastors and church planters.

I moved to the Philippines in June 2013 (prior to that I lived in Russellville, AL & was the pastor of Friendship N. Baptist Church, Detroit, AL).

Our relationship to the victims: We have a seminary student/pastor whose family lives in the Tacloban area (the father is a pastor of a church there).

Where is the money going to go? Our goal is to offer direct, material support to the families and church members as advised by our student. He has completed a 4 day survey of the area.

We (BES) will provide a financial statement and (God willing) photos of our delivery & aid.

Thank you, God bless.
