Cheryl: Single lady battling cancer with unbreakable strength, but no money

Hi, my name is Twila, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my beloved sister, Cheryl. At 55 years old, Cheryl has been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. For years, she worked tirelessly as a support worker, caring for members of our community and brightening their days with her relatable sense of humor.

Cheryl is a single mother to two boys, whom she raised with unwavering love while juggling multiple jobs. Recently she lost her job and due to circumstances is unable to secure another. Cheryl has donated time and resources to help those in need at our local Mustard Seed. That’s just who Cheryl is—a kind, hardworking, and reliable person who always puts others first.

Like many others, Cheryl was hit with Calgary rent increase that she could not afford, since then, she has been living with an elderly woman, helping care for her in exchange for a modest income to cover her rent. In 2024 our fears were realized when her health benefits ran out. Now, without coverage, Cheryl is continuing chemotherapy, but she can no longer afford the bone density shots that cost $1,500 each, her bills, groceries and rent. These numbers have created a tremendous amount of stress for Cheryl us all as we don’t know how we can come up with the money in time.

We are aiming to raise $10,000 to cover her medical expenses and daily living needs while she undergoes treatment.

Cheryl is a fighter with an unbreakable spirit, but she can’t face this battle alone. Any support, no matter the size, will help her continue her fight and bring her closer to recovery. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you can do to help.
