Medical Fund for Bill Flowers
Bill Flowers "US Army Viet Nam Veteran" and long time board member of the Yorkville American Legion has
Myelodysplastic Syndrome or MDS is essentially "Bone Marrow Failure", a potentially fatal disease that affects all bone marrow (blood) cell lines. It can be thought of as a precursor to many leukemias or blood cancers. Newer, high-risk treatments include bone marrow transplants from qualified, matched donors. It is our belief that Bill's condition was a result from, and aggravated by, his exposure to Agent Orange during his US Army combat duty in Viet Nam as a river patrol boat crew member in the late 1960s. Due to current political and financial concerns, the VA currently will only acknowledge the diagnosis of Leukemia as a result from Agent Orange, but specifically excludes MDS at this time. His treatments are expensive and long in duration. Bill has been an enthusiastic supporter of all Veterans and their families, and has a step-son in active service with many deployments in Special Operations in the Middle East campaigns. Your assistance in helping Bill to achieve a cure is vital in his fight with MDS. Your help is urgent. Please help this war Veteran through yet another war in his personal life as a result of his service to our country.
