Kathie Lyczynski is a hair dresser and native of Three Rivers. She has two daughters in middle school and is married to Clayton Lyczynski. She formerly worked at Hair Designs for several years where she excelled in coloring and hair styling: she has many clients who love her work. She also attends Verse by Verse, leads a Women’s Bible Study, and is active in the Three Rivers Community Players (you may recognize her from Leading Ladies, Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar and Grill, or her directorial debut: Midsummer Jersey). She is a vibrant, positive, passionate member of the community.
For almost a year now, she has been struggling with seizures. Since they are minor, at first she did not know what they were, but a bad one would affect her memory, making her unable to remember events and conversations for the past couple weeks - couple months, and even unable to remember what she was currently doing, or who she was with. Kathie was officially diagnosed last fall when she was checked into the Three Rivers Hospital ER and had a gran maul seizure.
Since then, her neurologists have experimented with various medications, at various dosages and combinations, to no avail. Her seizures are still persisting - at least one every 3-4 days. This has affected her ability to work. In order to reduce stress, she has had to lessen her hours at the salon, then eventually had to step down altogether: leaving a job and clients that she loved.
Her neurologist referred her to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, and now she has the opportunity of going to the Mayo Clinic to seek treatment and answers. However, she needs $5,000 to be able to go. After all the medical bills she has been charged over the past several months, she really needs help coming up with the sum. Between her initial hospitalization at Bronson when she had the gran maul, many doctor’s appointments, expensive medications, and a 5-day hospitalization in which she was monitored 24/7 (which resulted in no answers), she can use all the love, good vibes, and financial assistance we can give!
