Help Hunter Recover!!

Hello, I am asking for your help that is much needed for a young couple in Harrisonburg, VA. Hunter Hensley, 27, was on vacation with his family and fiancé Kelly Rupp down at the beach September 15 when he dove into a wave hitting his head on a sandbar, fracturing his C5 vertebrae in the neck, and injuring his spinal cord. He had emergency surgery that night at Norfolk General and is recovering. So far he has limited movement in his arms and nothing yet in his legs. We are praying for a miracle that he recovers more function each day. He will be transferring to a spinal cord recovery facility in Atlanta, Georgia next week hopefully.

I am fortunate enough to work alongside Hunter as he is an amazing physician assistant in the orthopedics department at Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg Virginia. His co-workers and patients love him dearly.

Hunter and his fiancée Kelly Rupp were scheduled to be married this September 25, which is now postponed. He and Kelly met in PA school at Mary Baldwin, Murphy-Deming College several years ago. Hunter was also a four-year baseball star at Bridgewater college in Bridgewater Virginia after a strong high school career at East Rockingham High School in Elkton, VA.

This family is very strong and courageous, and I have no doubt Hunter will do everything in his power to get better. So it’s up to the rest of us, friends and family and colleagues, to help support them as best we can. Please send your thoughts and prayers if you cannot afford to contribute to their recovery fund. As you know, living in Atlanta for several months and readjusting to life at home can be very costly. Even $25 will help got a long way to offset new expenses that this young couple was not planning for.
