Mattew Davis’s heart Failure Fight

We are raising money for Matthew Davis recent heart infection, myocarditis, which is an infection of the inner wall in the heart. Below are some words from his girlfriend, Megan. “Hi guys!Within the last week, there have been a lot of ups and downs. After many tests, Teo was diagnosed with myocarditis on Thursday. He spent four days in the cardiovascular ICU, and then three additional days in the care of the heart failure team at MUSC. Myocarditis is an infection within the inner wall of the heart, which they believe was caused by the strep throat that we both had a couple weeks ago. While he is now out of the hospital, there will be a long road to recovery. He will have many more appointments and tests to track the progress of his heart. At the current moment, the heart is only working with a 27% ejection fraction, which basically shows how efficient the heart is pumping out blood to the rest of the body/organs (the goal is 50%). Tomorrow, he will be fitted for a life vest, which will track his heartbeat and then shock him if he experiences an arrhythmia or other irregularity in order to prevent cardiac arrest. He will have to wear this until improvement is seen, which could be six months to a year. Through all of this, we have both been overwhelmed with the amount of love and support that we’ve received from friends, family, coworkers, and even staff at MUSC. It has been an unexpected experience, but he will come out stronger in the end. All we can really ask is further good thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much to everyone. We love you all. Megan” With this comes financial burden. His insurance deductible is $10,000. I am setting the goal to $7,500 (due to outstanding and generous donations we are raising the goal closer to his deductible) in hopes to help take the stress off of a very overwhelming situation. He has been out of work for a week and a half and projected to be out close to a month.
