Colombia Missions Trip 2018

Hello my name is Ivan lopez I am the father/step father of these wonderful children you see. On July 2017 I was blessed to go on my first missions trip to Villavicencio Colombia an experience that changed my life, so much so that I desire for my family have the same experience. In 2017 I worked on building an actual foundation for a church. Very cool considering I'm a foundation contractor,The primary reason I wanted to go was to do what I do "work" and come home when I was done. But instead I was fed with love and the best food EVER from the church and family whom I was staying with. We visited a retirement community Where I was greeted by a wonderful woman with a beautiful smile while she said " were all so exited you came to visit us it's so fun for us" we sang silly songs for them danced,told jokes and prayed with them. It was a sad to see so many forgotten mothers and fathers, but was filling to know that we we able to bring them some joy. Then we visited the neighborhood children who had no shoes clean clothes or solid roofs over there heads. Literally garbage bags for walls and tree trunks for beds. We invited them all to the church where we fed them gave them juice,candy,played games,And shared the good news. I have to say personally my favorite part was looking at there faces when we gave them soccer balls. If you could only see these wonderful beautiful Childrens faces when the received something as simple and taken for granted as a soccer ball was humbling. Later that day we drove through these neighborhoods only to find entire families playing soccer most of which were barefooted in the street. The local church where we were working is the highlight of the week for most of these families where they know they will always be fed and provided for. I am honored to have been a small part of such a wonderful ministry! These are just a few of my experiences in Colombia and from the very moment I was on the plane home I decided that I would bring my entire family. I came to empty myself for them and in doing so they filled me with love and joy I've never felt.Matthew 16:18 On this rock I will build my church.We as a family trust in God to provide our needs.
