Our families are reaching out to you because we started a GoFundMe for our children Alexice Dillen & Dylan Latendresse and now that Malia is born we are continuing it

Malia was born June 20,2018 in Toronto at Mount Sinai with Myelomeningocele the most severe form of spina bifida.
This is when the spinal column fails to close early in fetal development causing damage to the baby’s spinal cord and nervous system Possible degrees could be paralysis of lower limbs, mobility supports such as leg braces, crutches or wheelchairs, bowel problems; over 80 percent of children with spina bifida will require a shunt to be inserted to relieve pressure on their brain, which must remain in place for their entire life.
At this point Malia had back surgery day after she was born June 21st to have the nerves put back into the spinal cord and closed back up, hasn’t needed a shunt but being followed weekly to biweekly but doctors having ultrasounds on her head and by Alexcie measuring her head daily to see the size, she is being catheterized every 12 hours, bowels are lose, her hips are out of socket and will require hip harness to mold her hips back which can’t be done tell her back surgery is completely healed and casting on her feet.
This will require on going travels to doctors locally in Espanola then Sudbury and with the team of doctors in Toronto at Sick kids and at Holland Bloorview
The care team by consists of Neonatologist, Neurosurgery, Urology, Orthopedics/Physical Therapy, paediatrician
At this point we won’t know what or if more is required for Malia as for if needs and walking aids etc
They live over 5hours from Toronto if traffic is good. This means Alexcie and someone supporting her will have to travel to Toronto significant times for appointments.
With this being said, it is not cheap to travel to Toronto nor to stay in Toronto, so any donations would be greatly appreciated
