Get "T" to Europe!

Donation protected
I am asking for your help for a student of mine. I have had a young man in class for two years now-to protect his privacy I'll call him T- and have gotten to know him and his family very well. His mother had struggled with cancer for quite a while but at the beginning of school last year was declared cancer free; at the beginning of this year the cancer returned and she has been told she is terminal. I spoke with T's father last week and was told hospice has now come in to take over her care.
T is a special young man. He is smart, shy, kind and incredibly hard working. And he LOVES French. He plans on going to college to become a French teacher, and I believe he will be the first in his family to go. Next summer I am taking students to France, Germany and Switzerland, and T wants to go more than anything. He has written letters expressing why he wants to go on this trip and how it will benefit him and his educational aspirations. He is working so hard to try to earn the money, and his dad said he is determined to get him there. However, we all know the heavy expense of medical bills, and his family's income is not large, especially with only one person working now. I know this trip would be life changing for T because it was for me at his age. Knowing what he is facing, I know this is a critical time in his life; the next few months will be very difficult and everything is going to change for him.
I realize that there are much more important things out there than a trip to Europe. Since it is not through the school but a private company, any donations he might get are not tax deductible. I just feel passionately about doing this for him. Many students are worthy of such a gift, but I have not had many come across my path as worthy as T. I know what this experience will do for him and hope he gets to have it. The cost of the trip itself is about $3,600-this includes all airfare, hotels, transportation, entrance to major monuments and museums, and breakfast and dinner. T's dad has opened a savings account for any money he earns or receives through donations.
Thank you all so, so much for your time. I appreciate you all very much!
