Dear Friends,
We continue to receive donations. We will keep the website open until after the first of the year.
Bill is a father to 3 sons, Chris, Tim & Jeff and 2 daughters, Leslie & Krista. He is also Grandpa to Niko & Ana and is a loving husband to Kathy.
He served in the United States Navy Seabee's and their motto is: CAN DO! for 21 years and retired, with the rank of Chief,in 2006. Bill has been employed by GE for 24 years and is a Welder and Safety Monitor. He was also a Volunteer Fireman for 4 years.
In 1987 Bill was a Bone Marrow Donor and Platelet Donor to his brother Steve who was 15 years old. Steve was battling Acute Lymphatic Leukemia (ALL) and lost his battle on August 5th, 1988.
Since then, Bill has continued to donate platelets twice a month until 2007 when Bill was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (CLL) and there began a new journey. Bill had several rounds of chemotherapy over the past few years and on August 5, 2013 he had a Stem Cell Transplant. His Donor was his sister, Melissa.
Together, Bill & Melissa are participating in a 5 year Clinical Study to further the research and success around Stem Cell Transplantation and CLL.
We are hoping to collect donations, either monetarily or with items for the Basket Raffle, to assist Bill and his wife Kathy to defray costs for the Transplant, ongoing weekly infusions, oncology appointments, weekly blood tests, ct scans and many other medical tests and procedures. It is anticipated that Bill will be unable to return to work for 1 year "“ which would be approx. September 2014.
