Jodi Boisjolie- Breast Cancer #2

Donation protected
My story started November 2015 when I found a painful lump in my breast. I had always been a very cautious individual to stay on top of all appointments. This alarming feeling of pain to burning insisted me to make an appointment! I was told due to my age of 39, I would not be able to have a mammogram. My insurance would not allow it until age 40. Which I would be in January!     I struggled but found a Dr to refer me to have a mammogram and then a Dr to do surgery to remove a lump that was concerning. Within 2 days, the call came and the Dr on the other end told me I had breast cancer. Then proceed to tell me I would need to make a decision to have another surgery. Either a mastectomy or a  lumpectomy. I chose to have a double mastectomy to prevent further problems.     Within 11 days, I went under the knife. Then to find out if I would have waited until my 40th birthday, I might not have made it.    Many things happened within this time period... chemo, many hospital visits, reconstruction, more hospital visits and then normal life?     I joke about normal life because anyone that has had chemo and many surgeries don't know what normal life is? My family has grown, moved on, stayed supportive through everything!     We continued through "normal life" for a year until pain hit again!!! A lump.... two.... three... lumps. Back in I go again to find out, the lumps are cancer again! How can we go through this again! But we do! It's time to tell the family again,  which they are all troopers! The kids (2 girls and 2 boys) are 18, 12, 8,  and 7.      Another bump in the road... my husband losses his job the same day we head to hear the news. The positive is,  he can be with me the entire time. The weeks go on to find out Cobra is unbelievably expensive. Do I truly need to choose my health verses insurance. I did the unthinkable and got insurance but affordable is difficult. Thinking each time an appt with the oncologist, chemo, radiation, surgeries etc do add up. Please find it in your heart to assist. Please, no hurtful comments. Prayers needed.
