Ourso House Fire

My name is Angela Dickens-Westbook. My sister, Elda Dickens-Ourso , her oldest son Christopher Becnel , her youngest son , Jack Ourso & daughter Julia Ourso are so very blessed to have survived their house fire in the early morning hours this past Thursday , March 1,2018 which destroyed their entire home & all their belongings.Christopher , age 22 awoke with the smell of smoke & immediately got his younger brother , Jack age 12 & sister , Julia age 11 out of their home as the fire ripped through their home & started in the den from a new leather sofa with electric recliners. Apparently, the Fire Marshall found the source of the fire to be a faulty remote to one of the new recliners that Smith Ourso had purchased last Christmas. My sister did not hear the smoke alarm from the ear plugs she wears every night & also had to be awaken by her oldest son .Smith Ourso , my brother-in-law was with his mom at the time , Mrs. Barbara Ourso in his home town , Donaldsonville, La. at the time of the fire .I am starting this Go-Fund-Me fundraiser for my sister & her family in hopes to help them begin rebuilding their lives . Nothing will be able to replace all of my sister’s baby pictures & albums of her 3 children or her prized Christmas decorations dating back to our childhood that were stored in the attic .But , I also want everyone that has purchased one of these leather sectional sofas with built in recliners to be aware of the faulty remotes that could catch on fire . When a tragedy strikes as devastating as my sister’s house fire , my family is so grateful to have my sister & her children & cat , Christian alive. I pray the word spreads to anyone & every one who owns a leather sofa sectional with built in electric recliners to alert them of this faulty wiring so this tragedy does not repeat itself.
