Many of those who are close to us already know about the recent "road bumps" we have been experiencing. For those that don't, here's the run-down:
In early March we woke up to find one of our cars had been stolen from our driveway. We're lucky to have insurance, but we still faced many out-of-pocket expenses related to the theft. In the end, the car was recovered with enough damage for it to be a total loss. We're now in the process of replacing a vehicle, hopefully one that will fit our growing family.
A couple of weeks after the car incident, we learned that Jason would need surgery on his leg to address some potentially life-threatening vein issues. The procedure will take place this coming Monday (4/8) and he will be out of work for 3-4 weeks. While he has PTO through UNC, he won't be able to work his side job bartending at The Tavern. He does this 2-3 nights a week and we use that money to pay for our daughter's daycare as well as groceries. His surgery is going to cost more than expected out-of-pocket after insurance covers their portion.
Lastly, our newest addition is expected to make her entrance in about 7 weeks. Paid maternity leave isn't really a thing in our country, so we will be missing a large chunk of our income while I'm at home with the newborn.
We are not the type of family who likes to ask for help and we don't like to admit when we just can't make things work, but we're running out of time and options. Any funds raised will go towards Jason's surgery, daycare expenses, mortgage payments, groceries, and baby-related expenses.
Thanks for taking the time to read all of this. It's a humbling experience to say the least. We are grateful to those who have already helped and reached out. We're learning there are lots of people in our corner who love and care for us, and it will not be forgotten.
