Devastation to the US Virgin Islands is catastrophic. A return to a normal functioning economy will take an unimaginable length of time.
Our purpose is to ensure safety and security, food and medical supplies for the hundreds of horses at risk on island during this trying time.
We have lived on St. Thomas most of our lives and have helped grow the opportunities for enjoying horses in a Caribbean outpost.
Caring for horses is an enormous task under best circumstances, and now, it is an extreme challenge.
~ Victory Thoroughbred Aftercare's main source of funding relies on local spending, coming to a standstill
~ thriving tourism will cease to exist...an important funding source for the riding tour operators on all three islands, St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix
~ jobs are at risk and may not exist for the many horseowners at the racetracks...horses will need to be cared for while feed becomes difficult to obtain
~ grazing is non-existence on St Thomas at best, definitely non-existent in the hurricane aftermath
Funds will be mainly for providing feed and medical. Please consider this important charity! We appreciate every gift you are able to share with us. Any amount is needed. Currently, we are asking for donations to help with essential horse management products from generators to vet wraps! Free shipping provided by a generous donor with a private plane. We have already sent one shiping container of feed, shavings, and hay costing thousands and thousands of dollars. We have already flown in a professional veterinarian and vet tech to cover all islands for assessment and the most basic treatments of care and recovery, helping horses to get back on the road to a maintenance program until their lives and shelters return to normal. We have teamed with the Department of Agriculture to ensure proper care and nutrition is being provided across the board. No horse will be left out! Shipping and purchasing and affording the help and feed is still challenging...we need more to work with...your donations are essential. We are getting the work done. Thank you for helping us help horses!!
