Philippines Relief

Over the summer, my family and I had the opportunity to take a "roots trip" back to our homeland of the Philippines. Our eye-opening adventure brought us closer to the country where our parents first met, went to school and got married. We were instantly immersed in the rich, open-armed culture. This trip quickly revealed the beauty of the nation and the people, but also taught us where help is still needed - especially in times like this.

As you may know, Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines November 8, affecting hundreds of thousands of people throughout the country. While I am grateful that my family back home is safe, it breaks my heart knowing that an estimated 100,000 are dead and more than 660,000 Filipinos were left homeless by the storm. The people in the Philippines will need financial support in the upcoming weeks and months as they rebuild.
