Assistance is greatly needed for the MacGowen Family. Our close family friends are facing devastating circumstances, please, please help us help them...PLEASE SHARE THIS POST. Husband Ben, daughter Andie and son Drew of Donna MacGowen, had noticed a decline in her peripheral vision in 2017. While odd, they decided it was not an emergency and waited for an upcoming doctor's appointment, but that quickly changed. We got her to the emergency room on November 29th, 2017, after she suddenly lost the ability to move her left side over the course of a several days. They found an extremely large brain tumor and scheduled surgery to remove it. Then they found the lung tumors, at that point they canceled the surgery to run more tests. The neurosurgeon rescheduled the surgery for December 4th, 2017, the surgery went well and she was back to walking within 3 days! She spent a few more days in the hospital before heading to the rehabilitation facility for another week. In total, her first stay in the hospital was just over 3 weeks. Mom was then diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer on January 2nd, 2018. Currently she has just finished radiation for her brain tumor and will start her second round of chemotherapy. She is doing an aggressive treatment with a once-a-week dose for three weeks with a one week break. She will do this three times in total. This aggressive approach is to give her more time, but it has been determined to be terminal. We do have insurance, but it is one of the lower levels offered. All we ask for is help paying for the medical bills only. We have no idea of the total yet, but at almost a month stay in the hospital and brain surgery is extremely expensive. Mom's treatment so far has been very expensive since weekly meetings with radiology and oncologist, daily radiation, chemotherapy, prescriptions, etc, are all not fully covered by the insurance. These bills are piling up fast. If our parents do not have to worry day and night about them, then our hope Is they can focus on the gettin mom well, and then back to fulfilling their dreams while my mom is still here. After the recession of 2008, our family took a hard hit. My parents finally were just geetng back on their feet in 2017. They had some savings and felt my father's career was stable enough to purchase a home for the first time since we moved to Florida 14 years ago. They settled on a house in a great neighborhood and a good school district. the idea was to fix up the house into a family home. A place where their future grandkids could stay with them and eventually pass down to their kids (my brother and I). The sale was finalized in May of 2017. Mom and Dad were able to put on a new roof and got the air conditioning replaced. Remodeling was next, but hurricane Irma put a hold on those plans. Our home thankfully received landscaping damage only! After the storm passed, we and the rest of Naples required time to get everything back to normal. That is when we noticed a decline in my mother's health. We thank you from our hearts, for any amount you can contribute to help us. The MacGowen Family
