To those who know me, you know that I have been battling with depression since high school and probably before then. I have tried to fight it on my own mostly because I could not afford going to a therapist. My family has tried to be supportive but its obvious that most do not know how to help and I hate burdening them with it. I honestly hate asking for help to start with and making this shows how desperate I am getting. I have been getting a lot worse over the last year. I try to keep a smile on my face for those around me but I can't keep it up. To be honest, I am scared because I keep having dark thoughts and it has gotten to the point that it is daily. I have reached out all around and done a ton of research to find way to get professional help. And there are plenty of options but the problem is my insurance does not cover mental health, and I live paycheck to paycheck while working 60 hour weeks. I found a therapist near me that offers "affordable" help without insurance. The initial visit cost 90$ and every visit after is 45$. I set the goal as 1,500 but in all honesty, I am happy with whatever I can get. 1,500 covers over 6 months of treatment based on going once a week. I will be honest, I do not know if six months is needed, it may be overkill or it may not be enough. However, I do intend to go as long as I feel is needed.
I also understand that with the pandemic going on, most people would not be able to help financially. That is perfectly fine and I completely understand and I would be grateful just for positive feedback and any advice you have to offer. I honestly hate that I am asking for money in the first place. I hate the idea of being given handouts and not working for it but I just don't know what else to do at this point. I am exhausted and honestly running out of energy fighting.
I really appreciate any help you can offer, whether it be money, advice, or kind words. I am sorry for asking, but like I said earlier, I just don't have any other options.
