Help Catch Naomi’s Killer!

Donación protegida
In early February in Alexander, Arkansas beautiful but emotionally scared Naomi was just becoming trusting of her rescue owner and learning to love and see that not all humans were bad. She had been through so much in her short life as a young puppy, more than most suffer with in a lifetime, and understandably she steered clear of all humans that crossed her paths. She would cower in the corner of her cage at the shelter trying her best to become part of the floor as to appear invisible. She wanted no part of being seen or touched by these terrifying humans. But something amazing happened. Kelley, owner and head organizer of Adopt-A-Stray Rescue, brought Naomi into her home after rescuing her from a high kill shelter which was certain death if Kelley had not taken action. At first Naomi would yelp and run away screaming if Kelley attempted to show her any sort of affection or even if she moved too quickly for Naomi’s liking. It took time but with lots of patience and three times as much love, Kelley won little Naomi’s heart and trust. Naomi would snuggle with Kelley at night in bed along with her other doggie brothers and sisters. Naomi had become her constant shadow and companion. She had FINALLY found happiness. She FINALLY belonged and found her pack! But, sadly, that all changed for her brutally and with calculated purpose on February 19, 2018. Naomi usually stayed on the rescue’s front steps during outside time with her crew. She never wandered off further than a few feet from the front porch. Kelley was inside preparing the afternoon meals for the furbaby crew and had only been away for 15-20 minutes. This was their normal routine. But when Kelley opened the door to call for everyone to come in Naomi was gone. Immediately she knew something was not right and took off into the thick wooded area behind her home to search for little Naomi. It rained and rained and rained for days, but, that never stopped Kelley from going out for hours searching. She posted fliers up and spread the word through Facebook. She had friends who assisted in the search which helped cover a lot of the area but there’s was zero trace of her Naomi. On the night of Monday, February 26th Kelley came home to find the most grueling and gruesome sight that will be forever engraved on her mind. There, lying on her front lawn, was her sweet Naomi. She had been slit from her head all the way down to her tail and gutted. The cut was a clean slice not consistent with animal teeth that would have ripped and tore her body in a very jagged pattern. She was also as clean and fluffy as the day she disappeared. She had been missing for days so if her body had been in the elements this whole time she would have been dirty and almost unrecognizable since it had been raining for 5 days straight with flooding in all low lying areas. Someone had Naomi and kept her likely torturing her until they decided to murder her. To top it off Kelley stated that she felt the eyes of someone watching her as she dropped to her knees screaming in agony over her precious Naomi’s lifeless body. She later that evening started receiving very strange and nerve ratting phone calls from a man she did not know. This person likely is only getting started with his sick and monstrous agenda. Kelley and her rescues need to be protected with a whole home security system including cameras for the wooded area behind her home which is the only place Naomi could have been taken. She believes that Naomi’s newfound trust in humans that she was lured into the woods that awful day and taken. This person could still very easily come back and do this again to any of the other dogs that are in the rescue buildings. She needs a security system that will alert her to any movement in the wooded area or around her buildings and home. Since she does live in such a secluded place miles from any kind of police help it would need to be a top quality system that could record faces and be able to make out the details day or night. She needs the type of system that she can access on her phone when she is away doing work in town or picking up any new rescue dogs in other towns. The kind that are physically monitored by a security company. These types of systems are extremely pricey and the installation alone is not something within her rescue’s budget much less a high tech system. Every single penny she has and then some goes to her rescue dogs. Let’s help her make her and her furbabies safer by making sure this never happens again and take one of her worries away. This would provide her with at least a tiny peace of mind that she can see all areas inside and out of her home and the rescue buildings at any time of the day or night! I have attached a link to the news story that was picked up from her Facebook post. If the fundraiser goal is met any of the overage will go directly to the rescue to help with vet bills, medication, heart worm treatments, sterilizations, and dog food. She is a 503(c)(3) registered rescue organization. I have fostered dogs for Kelley personally in my home for the last 9 years and I can tell you honestly there is no one that loves and protects animals as well as this amazing woman! Any size donation will help! There is no such thing as too small! $1, $5, $10 it truly does all add up and help in the end!
