Help MFD Lt. Eric Nunez' Recovery

As many of you in the community are aware, one of our brothers, Fire Lieutenant Eric Nunez a 12 year City of Miami Fire-Rescue veteran recently sustained an Acute Aneurysm while he began his shift at station 9C in Little Haiti on Wednesday, February 21st. He advised his crew members that he had an excruciating headache while he mounted his truck, Rescue 9 to respond to a 911 call. Moments later he went unconscious and was immediately transported to Ryder Trauma center by his crew members. Upon arrival at the hospital he began seizing as he was rushed to one of the trauma rooms. After an initial evaluation by resident trauma brain Surgeons he was rushed to the CT scanner where it was discovered that Lt. Nunez had a massive brain bleed. The Surgeon immediately ordered emergency brain surgery in an effort to stop the bleeding within his brain. Thankfully the surgery went well and despite the significant injury to his brain, in true Eric tenacious style has been making tremendous improvement surprising even the seasoned trauma Surgeons at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Eric recently proposed to his very supportive and loving longtime girlfriend Ashley. Eric & Ashley also recently purchased a modest home in South dade and prior to Eric's sudden injury at work had been feverishly renovating their home where they plan to raise a child. Unfortunately, focus has now naturally shifted towards his recovery. Since last Wednesday several of Eric's MFD brothers and sisters have picked up where he left off and have continued the renovations that Eric & Ashley had planned. As far as his prognosis, the best case scenario is a 1-2 year recovery period where he will be unable to work and will be undergoing intensive physical therapy so that he can return to the hard working man he is. Anyone who knows Eric, knows that he is the type of person who would literally take the shirt off his back for anyone in need and would help his friends at a drop of a hat.
