Hi everyone!
My beautiful roommate Ashley Park has an opportunity to serve in Mozambique with Iris Ministries (Heidi & Rolland Baker's ministry) this winter break from December 16, 2013 to January 5, 2014.
The cost of the trip is $3000, and whereas that may seem like a lot, it's really only the cost of 300 people pitching in $10. Or 100 people pitching in $30?? Please pray about it (and for her) and help out with just $10-30, if you can. Below is a description of Ashley and why I think this would be a wonderful opportunity for her. Ashley is a Pre-med Biology/Math major at Dartmouth College, with a passion for serving children. Really"”all she wants to do in life is to love Jesus and serve children!!
The summer of 2011, Ashley served on ISEC to teach English and share the gospel with kids all over China. Winter of 2012, she interned at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. This past summer, she volunteered at the "Baby Box" at Joosarang Church"”the home of Seoul's abandoned children, often disabled and unwelcomed anywhere in that society. At Dartmouth, she works with children in America Reads, ASPIRE, and Big Sib Little Sib. She follows after the heart of Jesus when it comes to children, especially those who are forgotten or rejected by others. And this beautiful heart is what's at the center of her dreams of becoming a pediatrician; she wants to use the gifts & talents that God has entrusted her to love on children with medical care.
Right now, Ashley's feeling a little burdened by the med school application process, and the suffocating pressures and demands of this world, and I thought she could use a little encouragement. And just like that"”God sends her an opportunity to serve in Mozambique with Heidi Baker this winter!
She received the invitation to come serve with Iris Ministries from December 16, 2013 to January 5, 2014. She would be serving the orphans there, throwing a Christmas party and just overall showing God's love to them through word and deed. The trip costs $3000 for airfare and other fees, which has been a source of discouragement. BUT what sum is too big for our Lord Jesus Christ, right?? I wanted to ask in faith that God fills this financial need so that she can go and do what she loves"”serving Jesus and serving kids"”and come back refreshed and encouraged to push on with the work that God has entrusted her with.
So if you can help out in any way at all (prayer support, $10 financial support, both?) I'm positive that it will bring delight to the face of our Father who LOVES Ashley, and LOVESS the children in Mozambique.
