THE LILY PROJECT

Showing a child the difference and impact she can make in her community-through donations, volunteer service, getting others involved and earning $ through her own work and efforts.  Lily is very excited about this endeavor and her role as the co-leader of THE LILY PROJECT. She is reaching out to other children and families to assist her with helping our community. Lily is also working to earn her own money by babysitting and hostessing at her dad's restaurant for this project!  She and her friends have additionally built a lemonade stand where 100% of the proceeds will go to a variety of charities in Houston.  Money isn't the only way you can help. Time, volunteering with us, donating drinks or baked goods, or helping us start new charity projects are needed and welcomed!

100% of the proceeds the kids earn will be distributed to the following charities:

Texas Children’s Hospital:  The kids (Lily, Tommy, Lucia, Genaro and Marcelino) bought gifts for patients in the Diabetes unit who are following their plan of care and have a healthy A1C level.  Lily brought the gifts to the hospital and was warmly greeted there by the appreciative social worker and Chief of Staff Doctor.

Animal Shelters: Lily, Kendall, Martina, Brisa and Mateo volunteered at an animal shelter and donated funds and products to assist the dogs, cats and the shelter.  Donations were made to K9 Angels Animal Shelter and Weimaraner Rescue of Texas.

Feeding the Homeless: Lily, Ava, and Bella made care packages with food, water and an inspirational quote that were given to homeless people in Houston.  The homeless men, women and their dogs were happy to see the kids caring for them.   She also donated $ to the Star of Hope.

Hurricane Relief & Flood Victims: Lily, Lucia, Tommy, Vincent and Andrew donated directly to Hurricane Harvey & Maria flood victims and The United Way Hurricane Relief fund.  Lily even helped clear out a flooded house with our crew.

Treats for Policemen & Firemen: Lily and Sienna brought drinks and baked goods to our first responders as a way of saying thank you!  She still walks up to any firemen or policemen she sees to thank them for their service and protection.

Casa de Esperanza de los Niños: The House of Hope for Children - is a safe place for children in crisis due to abuse, neglect or the effects of HIV. Casa de Esperanza provides residential care, and coordinates medical and psychological services according to the needs of each child.  Lily donated to this charity to support the kids there.

Helping deliver gifts to children for the holidays:  Lily provided gifts for children in need for the holidays.

Best Buddies International:  Lily has been partnering with the students at Sharpstown International to donate to Best Buddies International.  Best Buddies is dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).  The IDD community that Best Buddies serves includes, but is not limited to, people with Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and other undiagnosed disabilities.  Lily has also attended the Friendship Walk with the students to show her support.

March for Our Lives Houston: Supporting the students from Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL and other major cities across the globe to make our schools safer.

Trees for Houston:  The mission of Trees for Houston is to plant, protect, and promote trees throughout the greater Houston area.  Trees reduce air pollution, provide oxygen, reduce stress , urban heat and home cooling bills, provide food and habitat for wildlife, reduce storm water runoff and slow erosion.  Lily donated to have trees planted around her neighborhood!

Random Acts of Kindness:  Lily will surprise strangers in the community with random acts of kindness.  1) She has bought a gift card to Ikea and surprised a family there who had a newborn child-it brought a grateful smile to their faces!  2) Joey and Lily did a random act of kindness by paying for an elderly handicapped man's dinner. They kept waving to him and he waved back, and figured out later that it was the 2 happy kids who paid for his meal!  3) Lily donated money to help two financially struggling 12th grade twin brothers pay for their senior field trips and their graduation caps and gowns.

Field Store Elementary School Fun Run: Lily is lacing up her sneakers and getting ready to run her best at the Fields Store Elementary Fun Run. This event raises money for the students and helps their school purchase items and equipment to improve Field Store Elementary. Their hope is to make it a more engaging educational environment and provide a place where the kids are excited to go learn!!

Belmont Village Senior Living Facility: Lily and Chloe brought Valentine's cards, cake and cookies to the elderly.  They really enjoyed their visit and brought many smiles to the senior citizen's faces!

Update 2019:  Lily and I have decided to continue with this project until she graduates high school!  If you have any charities you think would like a donation from her and would allow her to volunteer for a few hours please let us know!
