My name is Emma Silverthorn. I am a Junior at General Brown High School. I am the captain of our Varsity Tennis team. My current plan is to attend a four year college to become an OB/GYN and possibly go into the Navy after obtaining my Bachelor degree. Having many interests but a main goal has made me a well rounded individual with much enthusiasm.
Previously I was nominated for the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Excellence for outstanding academic achievement, leadership potential and determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Washington D.C. February 13-15 and again November 14-16, 2014.
As of March 17, 2016 I was selected to receive the 2017 Presidential Inauguration Youth Leadership Congress Medal of Achievement. This is apart of the 2017 Presidential Inauguration Youth Leadership Congress which is jointly sponsored by the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists and the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists.
Since I was young I have had a fascination with the body and the specific functions of each part. When I was 13 my father almost died from endocarditis; he underwent heart surgery and had a mechanical valve implanted when his aortic valve was damaged by strep bacteria. This experience and a lifelong interest has influenced me to study in the medical field.
Since attending the first Congress I became a young member of The Society of Torch and Laurel, an honors progam. I have not only maintained a high GPA but I have raised it to a 4.0 my first year of high school.
The cost of tuition is $1244. The first installment of $311 is due April 28, 2016 then 3 more installments of $311 are due every 30 days thereafter. I will be earning as much of this as possible by working. Thank you for any and all support you can offer. This will be yet another great once in a lifetime experience.
