<div>THE CHALLENGE: The Role Fitness Test (Soldier) is the Army's current 'In Service Test'. There are 6 components to this test but I will attempting what I consider to be the most arduous element of this test, the loaded march. For infantry this requires you to march 4 km carrying 40 kg in 50 minutes followed by a further 2 km carrying 25 kg in 15 mins. A total time of 1 hr 5 mins. My challenge is to complete the full 6 km carrying 40 kg within the allotted time. At 56 yrs of age, carrying a load of nearly 90 lbs over this distance to an Army standard I have no doubt will be both painful and challenging. This event will be adjudicated to confirm both weight compliance and timing with a provisional date set for Saturday 8th November.
