Dave's mobility fund

Hello my name is Tori Kill and I would like to tell you about my amazing husband Dave. Dave and I have been married for 7 wonderful years and have a son, Miles who is 19 months old. On May 18th of this year my husband had a life changing accident. In the middle of the night on his way to the bathroom he slipped and fell down our stairs. As a result of the fall Dave broke two vertebra in his neck and severely damaged his spinal cord leaving him a quadriplegic with no feeling or movement below his chest. He was in the hospital 3 months total. Spending one entire month in the ICU where we almost lost him due to kidney failure and a tep of 107. And then 2 months in rehabilitation learning to use new technologies and receiving therapies to facilitate the regrowth of his neural pathways. Dave has been home now for a few months and is working hard everyday to gain more and more function in his body. I have been doing his therapy at home and we have been making progress. After working very hard for the last few months Dave now can use his biceps and flexors in his forearms. And if he concentrates very hard he can get some small muscles in his right hand to fire! I am so proud of my husband for being so brave and determined to walk again. I know that with therapy and a lot of hard work Dave will reach his goal of being able to hug our son again soon. The one thing we need the most right now to help make that happen is transportation that is wheelchair accessible. With transportation for Dave we would be able to take him to therapy and doctor appointments without having to depend on a service. And it would allow us to be a normal family and do normal things like go to the grocery store or to the movies. Dave would be able to go with me to Miles' doctor appointments or anywhere we wanted to go and he wouldn't be forever stuck in the house.
