Heart Surgery Miracle

Donation protected
Hunter Boittiaux has a heart condition he was born with. He was born with a Anomalous Left Coronary that was implanted wrong when he developed in the womb. It caused him to have an enlarged heart with a mitral valve leakage. Hunter had surgery in Edmonton to fix it when he was 6 months old. One week after the surgery, his heart stopped beating. Hunter was put on life support for 5 days with less than a 20% chance of survival. After a week, he was able to beat his heart on his own. Unfortunately, other problems piled on him. His large intestine basically exploded and released poop in his abdomen. He was infected with a yeast infection that required strong antibiotics. His body went into septic stock. He wasn’t expected to survive Hunter was taken off the heart transplant list due to his very weak condition. A cardiologist came up with a novel idea of placing a drug coated stent into coronary artery. Problem was it never has been preformed on an infant that young. Doctors at the hospital were given permission from Health Canada for the procedure. Stent placement was a great success. Hunter has good blood flow through his coronary artery. To date, cardiologists say Hunter is the World Record holder for the youngest person in the world to get a drug coated stent in his coronary artery and is still the longest survivor. He is 16 years old now. Unfortunately, on February 7, 2018 Hunter had a heart attack at school and flat lined. His heart stopped beating for a total of 45 mins and was given chest compressions. He was zapped with a AED device over 8 times from school and on the way to the hospital. He heart started to beat again. A slow recovery is taking place for the past week. Heart is resting while watching the heart rhythm. Now here’s the new problem. Hunter’s heart stent in his coronary artery has to be cut out. It is too small. It has not been done before. He will have to return to Edmonton Heart Centre to have experiential heart surgery. Doctors need to find a surgeon that can perform the procedure. He has to have open heart surgery and use a knife to cut the stent from the outside. A patch to cover the open spot. Our family is asking for donations to help us, his parents and sister, be with him for his operation. Costs will cover flights and food, and household bills to keep our home. Hunter was a miracle baby many years ago. He needs another miracle this time. We ask for everyone to pray for Hunter on this next very difficult journey. Thank you to all.
