Surgical Fund For Kit Kat

Our eldest fur baby Kit Kat is in trouble. That is a common sentence for us regarding our big boy because he is historically a trouble maker, but this time it’s different. Last night we had to bring Kit to the emergency room to treat a suspected blocked urinary tract. This is a condition that if left untreated can cause death within 24-36 hours. Our normally mischievous kitty spent the whole day yesterday sleeping and hiding, and combined with some of his other symptoms it became clear that he was facing a serious medical complication we have often heard about, but never thought we would be facing ourselves since we have always actively taken steps to avoid any outside causes of it. After a few hours at the ER last night, our fears were confirmed and we had to leave Kit Kat overnight in the hands of the vets to perform the unblocking procedure- at the cost of anywhere between $2100-$3200 depending on what they found when they performed it. We woke up this morning to a voicemail informing us that because the treatment was only partially successful due to his anatomy and likely to be quickly reoccurring, he will require surgery to permanently remedy this issue... for an additional $3000. We love our cats like they are our children, and we will always address their medical needs with the same sense of urgency as our own. Even last night we managed to stay optimistic about our boy’s health while knowing we may be in debt trying to pay off the initial cost in time. This morning, Valentine’s Day, and ONE YEAR AND ONE DAY away from our wedding, we are at a loss of how we are going to afford this necessary surgery while still paying for the costs of our wedding day. Josh and I discussed this topic today, and struggled with the idea of setting up this account because we both feel very uncomfortable asking for financial help for a problem that only directly affects us, but we are left feeling desperate in the face of this emergency that has become much less manageable cost wise, literally overnight.
