Charity dance class!

Tax deductible

I am organising a charity dance class in memory of Rachel Sanders who sadly passed away last week. Rachel created the charity TABS which helps the children in the slums of Kiandutu as well as underprivileged people in the UK. Her school now maintains 300 children. £60 feeds, clothes and educates one child for a year but even £5 feeds, clothes and educates a child for 2 month so any amount will be massively appreciated.

* Sadly due to coronavirus only a few people can attend the funeral so there can’t be a collection bucket for her charity. So any on here will be amazing! *

FULL STORY: Rachel was a friend of my Auntie Jaci’s. This is what Jaci has to say about Rachel’s story:

I met Rachel Sanders just over a year ago after she heard my husband had died. She became a good friend very quickly and told me about a charity she had started a few years ago in the slums of Thika in Kenya. She had gone out to Africa on a holiday and was asked to go out to a small church and talk to them about the UK.

When the taxi driver turned into the Kiandutu slums he locked the doors of the car and asked her if this was the right place.

They found a tin shack in the slum and Rachel bravely got out of the taxi and went inside. A little girl came and sat on her lap wearing someone’s discarded prom dress, now in rags and covered in dust. The little girl was covered in lice, smelt of faeces and was very malnourished but she smiled and hugged Rachel. The people were lovely and after she had given her talk she got back in the taxi and they drove away back to the hostel.

The little girl had moved something in Rachel’s heart and she knew she couldn’t just walk away and leave her to this life.

In 2007 she set up a charity called TABS international to help the children of the slums in Kiandutu and also underprivileged kids in the UK.

Rachel was diagnosed with breast cancer last year but fought through the chemotherapy & radiation treatment to be given the all clear in August. I luckily had the opportunity to go out with her and a small group to Kenya and see what the charity had become. From one teacher and a couple of children to a school of over 300 pupils. They have very little but they are so full of joy and gratitude.

Unfortunately in March Rachel development a chest infection and went into hospital. This was just at the beginning of the Coronavirus lockdown so no one could go and see her. Sadly, it wasn’t just an infection. The cancer had returned and spread to several organs including her lungs.

She was discharged from hospital and she came home to die surrounded by her family.

She was a gentle, wise, kind woman who left an amazing legacy which we need your help to keep going. Unfortunately there cannot be a collection at the funeral as only a few family members are allowed to attend. So any donation through go fun me will be incredible!
