Saving Lives Karin and Kiran Indonesia

Donation protected
Since 1997 I have loved Indonesia passionately and have visited there 9 times, making the most amazing friends, especially on the large island of Sumatra.
As a result of my passion I have joined various travel forums such as Lonely Planet Thorn Tree, Trip Advisor, Indahnesia.com, Virtual Tourist where as (pPamela) I have linked Western travellers with good, honest, small travel operators throughout Indonesia for the past 13 years.

This GoFundMe page is for two of my very special friends in West Sumatra Indonesia.
Sovia from Lorent Homestay, Padang
Raoul from Losmen Tin Tin, Bungus Beach who got married last year.

On October 10th this year Sovia gave birth to 7 week premature identical twin daughters who immediately were transferred to Siti Rahmah, a private hospital with the best neo natal clinic to aid in the survival of these tiny babies.
Karin weighing 2.5 kgs and Kiran weighing 1.5 kgs.
With private hospitals in Indonesia and world class equipment the cost was always going to be astronomical.
Unbeknown to me Karin went home far too early and Kiran, the tiny one stayed on, but at over $100-150 AUD/day ( 1-1.5 million/day) it was not long before the birth costs and neo natal clinic costs took all Sovia and Raoul's savings of over $4,000 AUD or over 40 million rupiah.
So consequently Kiran went home as well, but again most definitely before she should have, because of the financial situation.

On Monday evening 4th November, Sovia sent me a FB private message to ask what should she do, because Kiran, the smaller of the twins was very cold and vomiting.
I advised her to take the babies immediately back to the hospital and having only just learnt of their sad financial situation said I would take care of the money situation - hence this GoFundMe page.

Sovia took the babies back to the hospital on Monday evening only to learn that the heavier of the twins, Karin was really in need of emergency help too, as her weight had dropped from 2.5 kg to 1.9 kg and she was suffering from jaundice and major immune deficiency.
So Karin immediately began treatment with the very expensive blue laser. Current bill for 2 days ( 5.11. and 6.11) hospitalisation with the added blue light laser is $520 AUD ( 5.2 million rupiah)

For the twins to survive and grow into healthy babies they are going to be in this neo natal clinical at the hospital for at least the next 8 weeks which is going to cost a small fortune which the parents do not have.
And as in most countries like Indonesia if one does not have the money to pay for the treatment, then you cannot get the care needed - so what do you do as parents of premature twin daughters ??

Knowing of Sovia and Raoul's situation there is NO WAY in my heart I can walk away from their plight.
I need to help in any way and every way I can and this page is the best way to raise the necessary funds.

So for these two beautiful little babies to survive I really need to raise a lot of money so I am appealing to everyone who receives this page as a link in your email to donate a little money and then forward the email to others you know who might be able to spare some $ so we can save these beautiful little twins.
A few dollars from everyone will ensure these tiny babies get the opportunity to SURVIVE that without the $, will be denied them.

As time goes on I will update this page with photos of the babies and reports of their progress.
And photos of all receipts paid to the Siti Rahmah private hospital in Padang will be posted as well.
