I have the passion, commitment, and determination to be successful in nursing school... it's the cost of nursing school that is going to be the biggest struggle. About Me:
I've been applying to nursing programs all over the country for the past four years. It's been a tedious, time consuming and expensive process, but every single denial letter I received only made my passion burn stronger. By the fourth year of applications I had two years of CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) experience under my belt and had just completed my BS from Portland State University in Public Health. I believe this made for a more competitive application. This year I was invited to interview at Clackamas Community College and on May 10th, 2013 I received an email welcoming me into their Nursing Program. Clackamas Community College is one of the OCNE programs that grants me the option to complete my third year at OHSU earning my BSN (which I plan to do).
For the first year of nursing school alone the actual cost is $5,682 including my tuition and fees, books, uniforms, supplies, immunizations, background checks, and online mandatory testing services. After budgeting for this year, I've realized it's going to be difficult to get through the first year of the three-year program without some financial support.
My hope is that you can spare a few of your dollars to support a really great cause. I am a promoter of health and by supporting my journey in becoming a nurse, you are making a great investment.
