Help Get Black Women to Harriet's Dream

Donation protected
A year ago, I had a dream of opening up an Afrocentric Racial Trauma and Healing Center for black women. Why? Because racism and systemic and systematic racial oppression effects black women at a greater intensity than any other human on the planet due to anti-blackness. No one catches hell like a black woman. They experience racial oppression from white folks, non-white folks, non-black folks and unfortunately black folks too. There is no safe public space for black women to exist freely and unapologetically and therefore they are under constant scrutiny, surveillance, critique and attack. Black women need safe spaces to speak freely about their oppression and a place to begin healing from generations and years of racism and oppression.

On October 27, 2019 the dream became a reality. Harriet's Dream hosted it's first open house to open the doors to this Afrocentric Racial Trauma and Healing Center in Omaha, NE as the first and only of its kind in Omaha and in the state of Nebraska. Harriet's Dream will not only serve black women in Omaha and Nebraska but black women all over the world. The support for this center has been extraordinary and black women across the country are in need of spaces like Harriet's Dream. I've been blessed to meet hundreds of black women who crave being in this healing space and deserve to experience its healing power.

We at Harriet's Dream seek your financial support to provide scholarship opportunities for black women to make the trek to Harriet's Dream in the upcoming years to begin and expand their healing journey. We have another campaign that will support that financial need (COMING SOON).  It is essential that when black women make their way to Harriet's Dream that they do not have to worry about how they will get to and from the center. So we are raising funds to purchase a center vehicle to not only to provide transportation to and from the airport but to also provide transportation to and from Harriet's Dream at no cost to black women.

I want black women to focus on healing and self-care, not to worry about how they are going to pay for a taxi or Uber while trying to heal and get free. We will be using the funds raised by this campaign to purchase either a multiple passenger van or a larger SUV. This vehicle will also be used to service the women in the community who lack transportation but deserve healing as well as providing street outreach to black women in North Omaha. We plan on taking Harriet's Dream to the people!

With a multitude of strategic and marginalizing barriers facing black women's health and healing, let's not make transportation one of them. Please support this campaign so as many black women as possible can get to Harriet's Dream to get the healing they need and deserve!

Our goal is to have this fund fully funded by December 31, 2019 so we can prepare for the welcomed influx of black women making the needed trek to Omaha.

Thanks in advance for your support! Please share this campaign!
