Country Boy needs a liver transplant

Donation protected
Hi..my name is Ann Carrell. My brother, Andrew "Andy" Carrell is 44 years old and was diagnosed 17 years ago with Primary Sclerosing Cholingitis PSC, an autoimmune disease.

I am the oldest of 2 children to Ray and Sandra Carrell with Andy being the baby. Andy has 3 children, Ethen, 17 and a Junior in high School, Amanda 15, a sophomore and Conner 9 in 4th grade. Andy's biggest wish is to see each of them graduate. He and I were raised to work from sunup to sundown and make a living for our families. Andy is a wonderful family man; he is a great father, loving husband, brother and son. Andy likes to hunt, fish and go camping with is kids and family. He is very envolved in all of his kids' lives, in whatever they are participating in, weather it is 4H, FFA, or sports, he is always there to help and teach them.

As young teens, Andy and I traveled with 5 or 6 of our friends on the High School Rodeo Circuit, where he rode rough stock. One of my favorite memories is Andy getting off his horse and missing the pick up man and face planted into the horses rearend and hit the dirt. When he got up he had what looked like a full man beard from all the dirt and hair from the horses butt..lol lol

In 1987, right after High School he enlisted in the Army and attended boot camp that same year, while in boot camp he received Soldier of the Cycle. After two years in the army everything changed, when he went and donated blood. A few weeks later his superiors called him into their office, and said the tests implied that he had Hepatitis C, and he needed to return home and see his primary physician.

Dr. Aday, his primary physician, ran extensive tests and the results came back with PSC.

He has traveled to many different doctors and specialists for PSC and liver disease, including, San Francisco for about 8 years, and for the last 5 at Baylor University in Dallas.

Unfortunately until his numbers have risen to a certain level...his liver and body have continued to deteriorate. His liver is now operating at a 10% level.

He is now at a level to receive a liver transplant when one comes available. A live donor is also a possibility, but the cost again comes into play, and insurance will not cover that.

Andy has now been on the last of his sick leave for 3 weeks and only has 3 more weeks left from the Otero County Co-op where he has worked since he was discharged from the Army, 17 years ago. He has filed for long term disability as he is now unable to work. It will not start until Feb 2014.
His monetary need is for his upcoming liver transplant out of pocket expenses and housing in Dallas, TX where he will have to move immediately until a liver becomes available. His wife and kids will remain in Alamogordo but Andy cannot go alone..it is required he have a caregiver with him. My mom is going to go with and take care of him. My dad and myself will continue to help Cody, his wife with the kids.

Prayers are more than welcome!! :)
