Kelly, my sister, a single mum, a student and a cleaner who's life has been turned upside down by a series of heartbreaking thefts which has left her struggling to provide for her family.Kelly recently moved to a house in New town, with her ten year old son Jordon.
On the 18th of September Kelly received a call at 1:30 in the morning and was informed by the police that her car was found stolen and burnt only ten minute down the road. The car was a reliable ford laser and was bought for $1300 with savings which were put away on a very small budget.
After getting over the shock of having something so important to her and Jordon destroyed for a ten minute joy ride, she started to look for another vehicle.
To afford a new car she borrowed $2000 dollars from a friend and on the 5th of November invested in a Subaru wagon with six months rego and new tyres. Kelly and Jordon drove the car home ecstatic to be back on their feet again and started to plan for the summer ahead.
The car was fitted with an immobilizer and all the locks were functioning so she felt safe leaving it on the road for the night.
At 8am the next morning Kelly walked out her front door to discover the car was gone. 24 hours later it was found burnt out and destroyed.
This fund has been created to assist Kelly in any way we can. We would like to help her acquire another car and/or assist in her debt repayment for the recently destroyed car.
If anyone can spare any amount of money to help Kelly cover even just some of the debt for a car which she owned for just seven hours, it would be greatly appreciated.
