Dear Global Community:
On October 31st, I received a letter of acceptance to the master's program called "Expert on Indigenous Peoples, Human Rights and International Cooperation" to be held at the University Carlos III of Madrid in April 2014.
As a mom, native woman and indigenous journalist, this news means a lot to me because it shows that my voluntary sacrifice to receive a quality education for the service of the native people has not been in vain. However, after so many academic battles fought, now, I face the limits of my economic reality.
I have applied for a different scholarship, but I have not heard anything from them yet. I don't want to quit on this opportunity, but I need to do my registration for the program which costs $1,800 Euros ($2,500 American dollars). The deadline for the registration is on November 30th and I am feeling overwhelmed. Therefore, I have decided to do everything I can to make this happen and I need your help.
I understand that this request is very delicate and I know you do not know me. However, I know in my heart that those of you who understand the struggles of indigenous people worldwide will comprehend the need to have native professionals in this field.
I am not asking you to give your money away, in trade I will provide my jewelry art, whose mission was born from the desire to educate people about other cultures and to support my job as an independent media representative. To me, my designs are not only a functional concept that satisfies urban aesthetics because they are also an instrument that helps me to communicate and educate my custumers about the social and cultural significance of traditional seed jewelry.
That said, thank you in advance for all the economic support you can provide to me in this academic quest.
