Allison Medical Fund

Hi Everyone, I am Paula Roberts-Byron. I am raising money for my best friend Allison Mohammad, she lives in Trinidad, of Trinidad and Tobago. We've been friends for over 29 years, I am the god mother to her daughter. Here is her story: She has been suffering with back pain for about 26 years. It started when she was 5 months pregnant with her first child, she slipped and fell. Thought that to be the reason for her pain.. Due to the pregnancy scans and certain tests couldn't be done. As things continued, she began a continuous regiment of taking pain meds. To help with pain from regular functions as exercise, walking for long periods, etc. Back in 2009, an MRI was done, this doctor saw the cyst located on her spine. Didn't inform her about it but sent her off to do physical therapy. Where through every session she cried due the excruciating pain and continued with the pain killers. Throughout the years even household upkeep became very difficult. Lifting things, bending down, sweeping and washing dishes pain meds and laying down to rest immediately followed. In August of 2016 she began to unpack boxes after a move. After lifting a box the pain started, she was unable to sit, stand or sleep for more than 10 mins at a time without pain. The doctor then sent her to a physical therapist, to which she once again cried through each therapy session. She even tried acupunture, ARPwave therapy and found no relief. As she continued to go to the physical therapy sessions, she asked the assistant some questions, when they told her that her sacrum was elevated but didn't know what could cause that. Visited another doctor that did an MRI informed her about the rare spinal disorder Tarlov Cyst. He still suggested that she get a second opinion. The second opinion doctor suggest not to do anything about the cyst due to position and risk, to continue with the therapy. She did research on her own on the Tarlov Cyst and found the Aimis Clinic in Cyprus who contacted Dr Feigenbaum who also operates out of Pine Creek in Dallas, Texas US. She was able to send her MRI for his review. He confirmed it as a Tarlov Cyst and offered his help to her. There are very few doctors that are able to do it. As you could imagine it is a very costly surgery! She has decided to go through with the surgery, it is scheduled for September 18, 2017! We need you help to help raise funds for the $46,000 US surgery. Any donation appreciated. Looking forward to your support in helping Allison get some relief. Thank you!
