Running for Syrian Refugees in Kurdistan

I have entered to run a half marathon in Dubai on the 6^th December! Now, for my marathon running and triathlete friends this may not seem like a big deal, however, it's going to be a lot of steps for my little legs and I think I'm going to find it pretty tough going!

Instead of running purely for pleasure (?!), I thought I should make the effort more worthwhile! The RISE Foundation (Refugee Integration, Support and Education) is a registered charity based in Erbil (my current home), providing support for the Syrian refugee population in the region. Their projects include aid distribution, medical assistance and more recently a weekly cinema night at one of the camps!!

With winter approaching, heating the tents to keep the families warm is a priority. $25 will buy a heater for a family tent. If you want to assist with this next project by donating money for a heater, or four, or contributing to a half or even a tenth of a heater, please sponsor me in my run! All the money will be donated to the RISE Foundation to assist with them with their brilliant work with the Syrian refugees in Erbil.

Aussie friends: be totally un-Australian and support refugees!

Family members: I know where you all live so if I don't see your names on the donors list there will be trouble!

Everyone else: I'm tugging at your heartstrings by including pictures of all the gorgeous little kids courtesy of RISE photographers, and if you're cruel and heartless then at least pay to see me suffer through 21km of running!
