Help Colleen (Leslie) Englehart fight lung cancer

Donation protected

Our mom, Colleen is an amazing woman who has spent her life taking care of her 3 daughters and 6 grandsons! She also has 2 step daughters and a step granddaughter.  She loves deeply and has worked hard her whole life.

Our story of fighting cancer started in 2016, when our loving mom and grandma got a cough, hip and back pain that just wouldn't go away.  After months of testing, we finally got into the right doctors and had the right tests done.  All of a sudden she was admitted to the hospital with a swelling brain and a diagnosis of Stage IV non-smoking lung cancer that was not only in her lungs but had spread to her brain, hip and liver.

We were all terrified at the diagnosis and couldn't figure out how she got lung cancer.  After weeks of meeting with different doctors and what seemed like a billion tests and scans, we finally received some good news, she was a candidate for the chemo pill!  Only 5% of patients with this cancer are able to receive treatment effectively through the pill.  She started taking the pill immediately and has received two rounds of radiation to shrink her brain tumors.

She is fighting hard to beat the cancer, and the results had been mostly favorable with all the cancer spots shrinking -- until  she  suffered a set back while she was visiting her newest grandson in Virginia.  She had two seizures caused by the swelling in her brain from her last round of radiation.   She is now on anti-seizure medication and has to have physical therapy as the seizures left her muscles severely weakened.

Up until this point, her and our family have been very blessed that she has good insurance which has paid for the majority of her treatments.  But the copays and deductibles are starting to really add up.  As she is unable to work, she could use some help to pay for these bills and the new expense of physical therapy.

While her cancer is treatable, it is not curable and so she will be fighting against it for the rest of her life.  As no one fights alone, any help you can give, whether a donation or simply sharing our page will be a true blessing and very appreciated by our family!
