Help the Bryan family recover

Donation protected
On Tuesday August 22, 2017, a serious accident occurred near Ritchie Community League.

This collision has had a significant impact on those that live in the neighbourhood as well as the Bryan family.

Jo-Ann and Don's son Matthew Bryan was a passenger in his friend's pick up truck and on his way to go golfing. After travelling just a block and a half from home, another vehicle unexpectedly smashed into the passenger side of the truck. The force caused the truck to flip and hit a tree. Matthew was ejected from the passenger window.

Matthew is now in critical, but stable conditional at the Uof A hospital. With each passing day he is showing more signs of life and improvement.

Thanks to the quick thinking of his friend Liam, who was also injured in the accident, the Paramedics, Community and staff at the UofA, Matthew is alive and recovering.

Matthew suffered a fractured skull, 2 broken ribs and a brain injury.
He is expected to pull through, but this will be a long journey.

The Bryan family has been told it will likely be 2-4 months before he can return home and months of therapy moving forward.

Jo-Ann has always been an active part of both the Ritchie and school community. She previously managed Ritchie Community Hall, and has continued to provide babysitting for neighbourhood children and supervision at Mill Creek school.

Matthew is known and loved by so many. He delivered flyers and mowed lawns as a young kid and people still remember him. He certainly has a tenacious personality for such a small guy.

The community has started this GoFundMe page for Matthew and his parents. Donations will help cover: Matthew's existing and future bills, Power of Attorney expenses, hospital parking fees as well as income lost as a result of Jo-Ann stepping away from work to help Matthew recover.

The Bryan's thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
