On Monday, January 22, the Bassney family of Cochecton, NY was involved in a terrifying car accident. Parents Adam and Carlie were returning home with Raina, their 4 year old daughter, following a prenatal check-up when the accident took place. Just days earlier the family, along with big brother Gavin, had shared with family and friends that a new baby would be welcomed to the family this summer.
Following the accident, all three were taken to a local hospital with various injuries. Their unborn baby was doing fine, but little Raina had fared the worst. She was immediately transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla where she underwent surgery to repair and reconstruct a broken femur.
Although the family is grateful that Raina’s long-term prognosis is good, they’re already feeling the stress of financial hardship as a result of the accident. It will be weeks or even months before Raina will be back on her feet, which will mean lost wages for her parents, on top of all the other expenses associated with the accident.
With a new baby on the way, any contribution you could make to this family would be greatly appreciated.
