Hi all,
My name is Kassidy. I am 20 years old. I have been battling with my autoimmune diseases since I was 17. The above photo is one of me in a bed in the ER. I was just recently diagnosed with Hepatitis B on top of my Crohn’s and Uveitis. If you knew me you would know I am a hard working individual who has been independent and provided for my self since before age 19. I have been battling with my sicknesses for years and it has caused me several ER visits (just 7 last year) and left me financially crippled for sometime. I work full time despite my health and I have a great job which I am blessed with. My dream has been to go to beauty school and I’ve known I have wanted to do this since 2015. I even worked full-time and part-time job averaging almost 80 hours a week for 7 months to save up for my dream. It seems every time I get to a good place I get sick again. I pay almost $6000 every year in medical bills. I have even been on a chemo therapy class drug since September to help with my unrelenting symptoms... Now that I have been told I cannot continue with that drug due to my Hepatitis ( the Hepatitis was activated by my treatment). I see a lot more doctors visits in my future. I wanted to start school this year and it keeps getting pushed away due to money and my medical bills... I would love to start beauty school it is what I have been wanting to do for years. I hate asking for help, but I am. Im not sure what else to do as my health doesn’t allow me to get a second job currently. I need about $1000 just to start school. I have already had an MRI and 2 ER visits this year due to losing weight being weak, no appetite, nausea, overall fatigue and abdominal pain. I am now up to about $3000 or more in medical bills already on top of the fact this medication I am required to take so I don’t need a liver transplant is ridiculously expensive ... I am now asking for help with medical bills and with hopes to start going to school for my dream career. I got the idea to start a GoFundMe from a colleague at work. Something I’ve learned from all the nurses I’ve seen over the years, is that sometimes it’s okay to ask for help. Thanks for taking your time to read this.
