David Shields Road To Recovery

Hello friends, family, Burning Man community and beyond... I have some unfortunate news to share and a call to action. Many of you know our friend David Shields - an artist, musician, fabricator and dedicated Burner for over a decade... a creative force behind many beloved projects such as the Disco Duck, Wide Awake (for Insomniac) and a talented artist across many other industries as well. And as you know, a stellar man and friend.
On January 11th, David suffered a serious motorcycle accident that nearly killed him and left him with a collapsed lung, broken ribs, a crushed vertebrae, and much other internal damage. He barely made it out alive, but he made it. The great doctors who worked on him (recommended by a fellow burner) have said it's a miracle that he hasn't been totally paralyzed - BUT that he's not out of the woods yet and has a long way to go in his recovery.
Now, he needs our help. Being the master craftsman that he is, David makes a living with his hands and operates a major production studio and workshop in Santa Clarita. He's going to be out of commission for a while, and the bills are already piling up. Besides the soaring medical expenses (damn insurance) he's got studio rent, auto payments, insurance, pay roll, all the costs of running a business, and a 13 year old son to support. He stands to face certain bankruptcy, eviction, and who knows what else as he rehabilitates and regains a normal life.
If you're a friend of David Shields, now is the time to support him in any way you can financially. If you've ever been touched by David's indomitable spirit or moved by his artistic creations on and off the playa, consider lending a hand to a brother!
