Delilah Rose

Hello everyone, I wanted to share a little bit of the back story of my friendship with Iris.

We grew up two houses down from one another in our neighborhood in Hyattsville, MD. It wasn't until after we graduated high school, we became the close friends we are now. It was a spontaneous
girls trip to Ocean City that started the great/crazy memories of my young adult years with her.
Time had passed, some friendships grew and fell apart. Thank God for social media! Through Twitter, Iris and I managed to keep in touch.
I was scared. At one point, I thought I'd loose my friend. She was battling her own medical obstacles, but being the strong woman she is, she pulled through. I became pregnant myself in 2017. To a pleasant surpise, Iris became healthy enough and had a baby on the way too! Me, being a new mom, I was ecstatic I was going to go through motherhood with her as well.
September 26, 2017, Iris and Fernando welcomed their baby girl.
Delilah R. Villatoro was born prematurely. With severe brain injury caused by the lack of oxygen during labor. Delilah was rushed to the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore to try to preserve as much of her brain as possible. She was put in a three day cooling phase along with countless EEGs. Doctors did not and still do not expect Delilah to live for long. With so many heartbreaking set backs, from seizures to a three day coma, Delilah is still fighting. She has been defying the odds and will be going home soon after her surgery to repair intestines. She will be coming home needing medical support, equipment, home nursing and various medications for the rest of her life as she will be special needs.
Fernando and Iris have been by their daughters side through it all. With exhausted work leave and only one income to their home, I've decided to reach out to friends and family and to anyone for help. I cannot imagine the emotional rollercoaster ride this is for them. From one mother to another, I'd do anything for my baby. I am praying this is some type of help to them.

Thank you so much,
Pamela Molina
