Please Help My Sister Lisa Beat Cancer

My name is Monica. I created this gofundme page for my sister on her Facebook as I do not have a Facebook profile. I am trying to raise money for her. In February 2013 my sister heard the words that no one wants hear. Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. Lisa has been receiving aggressive treatment for the past 10 months, battling courageously with every ounce of her being to win this fight. Her strength, determination, humility and grace has not waivered.

So many of us love Lisa and have wanted to help in some way. Not only is cancer a devastating blow, emotionally and physically, it is not free. Yes, you have to pay for it. Although we can't help with the physical treatment, we can help with the financial burden that comes along with it. Whether it be to help with medical bills or to help with everyday living expenses to make life a little bit easier. We can make a difference.

To know Lisa is to love her. With one meeting you will have a friend for life. She is generous, kind and always has a positive outlook. If you have met Lisa or know her, please join us in this fight. If you have never met Lisa know that your donation will not just affect her but everyone who loves and supports her. With love and faith the human body can accomplish anything. If you donate please know that your generosity will make a difference. There is no amount to small.

Please keep Lisa in your thoughts and prayers with hope and love anything is possible. BELEIVE! Thank you for reading.

Sincerely,
Monica

The above picture of my sister was taken at the City of Hope. The quote reads "THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE".

My sister's surgeries and treatments: In February 2013 she had a 5 hour surgery in an attempt to remove as much cancer as possible. At that time, unfortunately the doctors were only able to remove some of the cancer and were only able to remove her ovaries as she had started hemorrhaging.

The doctors told her after she had healed a bit and started some chemo at a later time they would go back and do another surgery. This past July she had a very extensive surgery at the City of Hope. It lasted 13 hours. They removed her uterus, spleen, gall bladder part of her small intestine, part of her colon and part of her pancreas. In addition they happened to find another tumor that was a different kind of cancer but luckily they caught it and removed it.

She has suffered many side effects. The most serious was she went into kidney failure and as Lisa was getting ready for a emergency surgery to have stints put in, the doctors also advised her she would most likely be on dialyses. Fortunately, while she was in the prep room Lisa's kidneys miraculously started functioning and the surgery was canceled at the last minute. But because the doctors are very concerned her kidneys could fail again, she is now required to get at home infusions 3 to 4 times a week. She is hooked up to an IV 4 to 8 hours each time. In addition, she goes to COH for Chemo, lab work, shots, check ups and emergency's that come up. Her white cells, magnesium, potassium, immune system among other things have been unstable. So the doctors and surgeons keep a close eye on her. She also gets very sick sometimes from chemo.

A little bit more about my sister and some pictures & Videos.
My sister loves people and the community. She enjoys motorcycles and road a Harley for years until recently when she had to stop riding because of her illness. She was a member of two motorcycle clubs. She loves music and people so much so that she started a Meetup group in Marina del Rey called the MDR music and mixer group where musicians could jam and meet other musician to network and where friends, family and the community could come listen to music and make new friends. On holidays she would decorate her patio that is located in MDR on a busy main alley for the community in her neighborhood. Her displays are so popular that the Argonaut one year that is a local newspaper posted a picture and wrote a article about her displays. She also loves to have coffee at The Cows end with the locals. She was a cheerleader in Jr. High a ballet and jazz dancer. She is a ordained minister and can perform weddings and a former Notary. Also, in the 1980's at just 23 years old she with the help of my parents purchased a Swiss Colony franchise that was located in the Century City Mall. She was a legal secretary for over 22 years in the same suite. She also has always been the back bone of our family. She is the one we always look to for advise and support when we need it and when tragedy happened in our family. My Dad died of a heart attack at just 67 years old and our brother Larry died in a car accident at 42 years old. My Mom has had Cancer off and on and now has heart and other medical issues. Lisa is the one who has helped us survived these hard times. I could go on and on but I hope the above pictures and s will give you an idea of who my sister is and what kind of person she is. A picture is worth a thousand words.
