Youth Homelessness is a serious concern that has been on the rise and it is a result of family conflicts and economic hardships. Many youth are kicked out because of physical abuse, sexual abuse and sexual orientation. Once this occurs our youth have resulted to being sexually exploited and because of the shame remain on the streets and are considered runaway homeless youth.
My name is Lisa Fields-Linnen and I am the founder of a non-profit organization, Hands That Make A Difference located in the Northeast Section of the Bronx. We are looking to extend our passion to Harlem to help at-risk youth by opening up a program that will provide everything that a youth would need under one roof. We are requesting your generous donations to assist us in obtaining a space that will provide a safe haven for our youth to go and grow.
This space will be considered as a multipurpose program for the community as well as for the homeless youth. Our program will help provide alternative housing, as well as give the youth the tools that they will need to be self-sufficient adults in society. We will also teach them morals and values, so that one day they will be in a position to give back to their community as well.
Our program will have various components that the youth will need in order to enhance their growth and development. These different programs will range from educational services, mentoring program, creative arts program, and a sports program. We have team up with Soul Artistic Trends Art Company who will be teaching and providing art instruction to the youth.
