Hey you guys,
This is the daughter of the two parents I wish send away for their anniversary/birthday. Funny, their birthdays are a month and a day apart and their anniversary is a week before my mom's birthday. These two are the best parents a kid could ever ask for, they've been wanting to go away for a long time but everytime we try to do so, our financial woes get in the way. They do everything in their power to support me and my special needs brother, Joshua and it's time to give them the break they deserve. From being in the hospital with him for months on end to cancelling their own reservations to go out, they have done everything in their will and power to do whatever is necessary for us. See, my little brother has Scoliosis, Cerebral Palsy, Seizure disorder and developmental delay, at the tender age of 4 months my brother began having violent seizures, ranging from 50 to 150 a day. He wasn't supposed to live past the age of 2, doctors told my mother she was very high risk and that he would have various other issues but my mom never waivered on keeping her baby. In 2009, my brother went into Scottish Rite in Dunwoody, GA for a veptor, which involved getting a rod placed in his back and having it stretched due to his 108 degree curvature. In the year 2010, his veptor caught an staph infection up and down his rods and he had to have his back vacummed out, had three major surgeries within a 3 day time span and had to have 2 blood transfusions, all within a week time span. Also, due to the staph infection, he had to have a pic line, which involves a direct heart tubing that has to be maintained with flush and antibiotics around the clock, my parents learned how to do it on their own to keep out of the hospital longer than he should be, the line stayed for a whopping 6 months, A month later, Joshua, had to have emergency spinal fusion surgery, which involved titanium rods fusing his spine to a rigig straight and that was no easy task, seven hours of surgery and several days of drainage. Within a week of his surgery, Joshua, had contracted e-coli up and down the rods, his wound didn't heal apparently and the doctors were very upset to tell us for we had been through enough already. So back to the hospital for 16 days of drainage and back vac and to make matters worse, he had cosmetic surgery to close his back finally with a muscle from his buttock. In year 2012, the worse year of all of our lives, Joshua, almost was lost. He became septic and was rushed to hospital with a blood pressure of 40 over 20, coding twice in E.R and I.C.U before being stabalized later on that night. He was in a sedated coma for 10 days before he coming back in conciousness but the ride wasn't over yet, he still needed fluids and other forms of medication, he had 2 carousels of antibiotics, which consisted of 8 different medications. Through all of this, My parents stood strong, stood powerful and prayed that my brother would pull through and with all of that, we became closer of a family. As the years passed, my parents had talked about going away for a while but they couldn't afford it after all the hospital costs, food and gas, becoming backed up with bills and morgage for our home and everything being such a strong factor. At the time, we had no car, so we had to rely on Marta and good samaritans in our lives. Even today, Joshua still struggles with upper respiratory and sodium issues, as he has a mickey button in his belly to feed him, he is on an all milk diet and is still not auditory. My boyfriend and I tried raising money for them before with no such luck but I hope this will help us give them what they deserve. This is their one chance of going on their dream vacation and it would mean the world to all of us if we could send them away.
