Cancer Patient Needs Car Repair

All my life I have been self-sufficient. My parents both passed by the time I was 23, and I had no brothers or sisters. I've never had to ask anyone for anything before, so this comes hard. I know the value of hard work and I know no one has enough for everything they desire. (At least no one I know). Coming here and asking for charity is a big deal and not one I take lightly.

About a year ago my health started to slide. Gradually I was getting weaker and weaker. I could not walk across a room without being completely out of breath. Whenever I stood from a sitting position a debilitating wave of dizziness washed over me. It has reached a point where I am disabled. I can no longer work even if someone wanted to hire me.

After a couple of misdirections my doctor discovered I was highly anemic. Apparently I had been bleeding internally for months. During a Colonoscopy we learned I had a bleeding cancerous lesion on my Colon. I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer and needed surgery to remove the cancerous tissue.

On Oct. 9 I had 1/3 of my Colon removed. Initial indications are that they may have gotten all the infected tissue but more work needs to be done.

Last week I drove my car for the first time since entering the hospital. When I started it, the check engine light came on. That can happen with a car that sits so I did not think anything of it. I drove it on a 2 mile round trip and as I was pulling back into the driveway I heard a loud thud from the rear of the car and it lurched forward. I knew something serious was wrong and had it towed to the dealer.

The Dealer advised that it was the Electronic Computer Module, the main one for the car. It costs $1600 to replace it. I do not have the money, not even close. I have now been unemployed over 2 years, and to compound the problem, my unemployment benefits ran out several weeks ago. I have no resources or ability to pay a bill of this magnitude. I am faced with the need for many (and immediate) follow-up Doctor visits and chemotherapy. Without my car I don't have a way to get to these appointments which are critical to my recovery.

To those of you who received a note from me directing you here: Don't feel this is something you have to give to. I am grateful for whatever is given, but I also understand everyone has priorities. Your love, in the case of family, your friendship in the case of friends, and your good will in the case of business associates means more to me than the money.

Thank you and God Bless You.
