$5 Difference: Pray for Guatemala

This past week, an active volcano erupted in Guatemala devastating many families in the country. The death toll has reached over 75 people with over 200 missing. I had a vacation planned to visit the country of Guatemala next week, and during that trip we planned to climb that very volcano. Our names are Kristen Bray and Charles Fernandez. Charles and I are starting a campaign called “$5 Difference”. We decided to call it that because as a broke college student, I know how hard it can be when so many people are always asking for money for missions trips and charitable causes, and I personally always feel guilty donating less than $20 so I choose not to donate at all. The point of this is to prove how much of a difference $5 can make when we all come together and stand behind a noble cause. We will be
using the money raised to purchase food, clothing, and toiletries for impacted families. We are bringing down suitcases full of clothing, shoes, toys, toiletries, etc. for the affected families. What we need is to get people into the mindset that just because it didn’t happen here in the US or to people they don’t know, doesn’t mean that they can’t help out and make a HUGE impact. We want to be the hands and feet of Christ through this and use this tragedy to bring glory to the Kingdom. Charles’s parents are missionaries in Guatemala and their ministry, My Father’s House is also helping out and sending shipments of food and supplies. Charles and I will be working hands on with the people who were impacted. PRAYER is so huge, so please be keeping these people in your prayers. We don’t realize the power of prayer until we see God moving mountains first-hand. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and asked how they can make a difference! It has been so encouraging to see how many people have reached out to see how they can make an impact, and how many people are coming together to help out our brothers and sisters.
