Immersion Experience in Pueblo Cultures

Donation protected
UPDATE!  We've raised $3,506 so far between this GoFundMe campaign and the donations sent directly to me.  Can you help us raise the last $494?

My students defy every statistic for urban youth.
Each student I will take on this trip has taken at least 3 AP classes, has completed a Calculus AB or BC course, and has been accepted to a 4-year college from which they are expected to graduate within 6 years at rates that are 500% better than others from their income quartile. (That was not a typo!)

These students are the founders of Roxbury Prep High School.

They were the first students enrolled, and they will be the first to graduate.

Youth from urban centers rarely have the opportunity to cross the culture boundary of their urban neighborhood. I have planned an educational immersion experience in the culture of the Pueblos in New Mexico including a focus on the arts of the region and a special outdoor day of white water rafting.  Many of my students have families with recent immigration stories. Many of them learned English as a second language. Many of them have never experienced a non-urban culture.

This trip is also a celebration of four years of intense rigorous academic preparation for a successful experience at college. Students are able to contribute only $200 toward the cost of this learning adventure, and I'm hoping my friends and family (and their friends and families) will be able to help them out.
