Lillie’s Diabetic Alert Dog Fund

Donation protected
As parents, we want nothing more than for our daughters to be able to live free from worry. For them to be safe and healthy and happy. So when our first born, Lillie, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at three years old, we were shattered. Overnight, we had to face the fact that this beautiful child, the absolute light of our lives, would face immense, potentially life-threatening, challenges day to day from then on. To say worry about her health has consumed us the past two years is an understatement. Above all else, we have worked to make sure Lillie can have as joyful a childhood as possible. We’ve tried blood sugar monitoring options so she can make it through her dance classes or play with friends without issue, but blood sugar spikes and drops come very fast. These episodes can turn into days in the hospital. There is an option that will have a life-changing impact for Lillie though. A certified Diabetic Alert Dog. These companions have been shown to alert of low and high blood sugar events faster and more reliably than the monitoring systems available. This would allow us to respond fast enough to keep a potentially manageable blood sugar event from spiraling out and allow Lillie the freedom she deserves. We are asking for help to purchase and train one of these amazing pups for Lillie. The dog would be certified to go into all public places and will stay with Lillie 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Cost is $2300 for the dog, and $2500 a month for the five months of training required. There will be travel and transportation as well, as we have to get the dog from the training facility in Idaho, then home to us in southern Oregon. Costs will be immense, and are more than we can handle on our own. But with your support, we can make this dream come true. Any size donation will be greatly appreciated, from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for taking the time to consider helping us!

The dog pictured is our pup. He is a Golden Doodle and Lillie named him Copper from the Disney movie “The Fox and the Hound”.

We have an amazing trainer picked out, her name is Lily Grace and you can read/watch more about her on her website. The video on her homepage is great!
