First Nation & Korean Gatherings 2014

Donation protected
First Nations ~ Korean Presentations and Gatherings of 2014: a unique chance for two cultures a world apart who are profoundly connected to universal rhythms to share their talents, knowledge and ways.

10 outstanding Koreans which can be sacred dancers, shaman, Oriental Medicine doctors, an elder Korean carver, and a sacred drummer will be matched with similar persons of the Coast Salish tribes of British Columbia.

The 14 day itinerary will allow for three public presentations; Vancouver, Victoria and Duncan, British Columbia. These will be announced along with the participants, time, and place once we have confirmations of who will be arriving from Korea. There are also plans to be at the universities for talks at the above mentioned cities.

This will involve mainly youth and elders from both cultures. The heartbeat and souls of the participants have a precious opportunity to meet one another at a profound level by educational and artistic presentations of music, dance, drumming, story telling and community gatherings.

We were recently very successful with a similar group of Koreans visiting Navajo Lands in Arizona, USA. The impressions that were left in each persons' heart was monumental and unforgettable!

Funding needed for this Gathering:

We've had to recalculate as most of the Koreans will be coming from Jeju Island. The transportation costs also have to be recalculated to factor in ferries to and from Vancouver Island with a larger vehicle.

*economy airfare for Koreans
@ $2200 per person
note: there is a possibility of Korean government funding for up to four people

*accommodations, food,
@ $125 per day
note: this is based on homestays with offerings to the hosts: if anyone living in Vancouver, Victoria, Duncan or anywhere in between would like to host the Koreans let us know! otherwise it's the hotel...

*local transportation,(ferries from Vancouver to Vancouver Island, gas, 15 passenger van rental)
note: Still calculating and we might have a lead on a van!

* Honorariums to the presenting Elders
@ $200 per person

*Carmen expenses (Toronto/Vancouver airfare, administration, onsite guide)

*Hwiemtun expenses (administration, onsite guide)

Any funds over and above the first spring tour will automatically transfer to fund a fall gathering.

Thank you for your attention and any support!
